Hello there!
Our names are Stan and Christine and we love good food. One day a few years ago, while watching a game and snacking on sandwiches and pickles, Stanley’s father-in-law said “Hey, these pickles are no good -we should make our own pickles”. Of course we thought he was off his rocker, but he insisted – he issued Stan with a challenge – to have a contest about who could make the best pickles. Stan, never being one to back down from a challenge, especially a culinary one, picked up the gauntlet.
We started out by taking existing pickle varieties and adding our own ingredients, but somehow these never really did it for us. Finally, we decided to start right from scratch. After dozens and dozens of trials with different mixes of vinegar, water and various vegetable spices, Stan came up with the amazing taste you have today. Needless to say he won the contest…
Then, through our wonderful supporters at the Untours Foundation , we met Victor Mallet, a social entrepreneur. We immediately recognized that we held similar values that a business ought to be run as a triple bottom line endeavor (valuing people, planet and profit) and also that we brought complementary skill sets to the table. Victor has been instrumental in getting PhillyFresh Pickles from the home kitchen table to the shelves of some of the most prominent gourmet grocery stores in the region.
In order to make it as a small business, we need your help. Please help spread the word about the products – tell a friend about them…or better yet give them to a friend to try…let us know what your local grocery store is and whether they already carry them….we’ll try to bring them closer to your home if they’re not there yet.
In a few months, we look forward to launching our own brand of olives and we sincerely hope that you will try them as soon as you see them in stores near you!
